Creating a Thriving Workplace Culture

Category: Culture & Traditions

Author: Adam Zanger, Executive Director

In today’s fast-paced world of healthcare, we realize the importance of creating a positive workplace culture. Here at Curtis Creek Senior Living, we understand to achieve this culture, employees must trust their workplace.

Each August, Curtis Creek participates in the Great Place to Work Survey. This is a time where staff can be open and honest about their feedback. The data is collected by a third party, so it truly is anonymous. It is so important for us to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly to know what we can work on to truly make our community a great place to work.

A group of staff members at a senior living community participate in a fun game of chair beachball volleyball. One person is mid-action, hitting the colorful beachball while others watch and get ready to join in, creating an engaging and lively atmosphere.

As the Executive Director, I actively promote employee appreciation and consistently recognize our hard-working team members. I foster a culture of service and cooperation where everyone feels empowered to assist with any task or confidently ask for help when needed. This spirit of teamwork extends to events, whether it’s waitstaff calling bingo or housekeeping helping to serve meals and during Happy Hour. Engaging with our wonderful residents is a key reason many of us choose to work in a senior living environment. Every team member can connect and make a difference.

We believe when done right, making work a fun place creates a workplace culture that helps people thrive, promotes retention, and makes us a great place to work, which in turn makes us a great place to live.
